CHARTIY & REFORESTATION

The CNC Ala project (Ala means “forest” in Malagasy), is a regeneration and permaculture project in central Madagascar where drought and deforestation have created desperate conditions for people, plants and animals.

Madagascar is home to a huge number of the worlds most exotic and endangered species, and 50% of households face real food insecurity.

Madagascar NGO Tetkikasa Ala has partnered with Climate Neutral Cardano to implement the CNC Ala ISPO project. This is a regeneration and permaculture project in central Madagascar with a short term goal of raising 100,000 ADA for reforestation and a long term goal of planting 100,000 plants and trees.

To date the CNC Ala project has successfully raised over 90,000 ADA.

As an active member of the Climate Neutral Cardano Group (CNC) through GAIA Stake Pool, I was responsible for collaborating on and implementing key aspects of the project.

TOKENOMICS

One important aspect of the project was to incentivize donation. In the Cardano ecosystem, token holders of ADA (Cardano's native token) get rewarded in ADA interest by staking their ADA tokens to a stake pool of their choice.

Funding for the CNC Ala ISPO came directly from participating stake pool operator income during the ISPO (Initial Stake Pool Offering).

To incentivize ADA holders to delegate their ADA and stake it to CNC Ala stake pools, the CNC group created CNC Ala tokens that would be distributed as extra rewards to delegators during the 6 month ISPO period. I also created a rewards calendar so that delegators would know when to claim their CNC Ala tokens.

In order for tokens to be desirable, they need to have utility. CNC Ala tokens serve primarily as a way for delegators to claim NFT artwork created by four partner NFT projects: Proxies, Yummi Universe, Mada's Lemur, and Earth Natives. Future utility could come from voting power with the token, as well as tokenized carbon credits from the project.

One of my responsibilities was to create the tokenomics (economics) for the CNC Ala token.

This
involved determining the token allocations for each group of token holders (delegators, SPOs, partners, etc.), determining how many tokens would be required to claim an NFT, and collecting partner wallet addresses for token distribution.

Originally a fixed supply model for the token was used, but the group decided on a flex model as the project progressed. This was more complex, as all token percentage allocations were based on the total amount of CNC tokens that were claimed by delegators during the ISPO period.

Extra tokens that had been minted during token creation were burned on-chain to match the total token allocation determined by my final t
okenomics document.

PORTAL MOCKUP

NFT CLAIMING PORTAL

To claim the NFT artwork donated by our partner NFT projects as well as our record-keeping Milestone NFTs, I worked with Anvil Development Agency (a minting portal service on Cardano) to create a minting portal for the CNC Ala project.

I was responsible for creating visual m
ockups of the minting portal and mobile wallet banner, communicating the desired minting instructions from the CNC group, and working with Anvil to implement the desired minting process.

I also tested the minting portal for bugs, manually distributed the Earth Natives NFTs to placeholder owners (as these NFTs were pre-minted), and offered technical support through social media (Twitter, Discord, Telegram).

NFT PARTNERS

There are four excellent NFT art projects that partnered with CNC and Tetikasa Ala for the CNC Ala project. These partners are:  Proxies, Mada's Lemur, Earth Natives, and Yummi Universe.

Each partner believed in the project, and knew that by donating artwork they could help make a difference in Madagascar. Much of the CNC Ala project's success depended on the NFT art rewards that would be provided to delegators supporting the project.

It was my responsibility to collaborate with the NFT partners in order to gather any needed information for collection minting, onboard partners to the Anvil minting portal, and ensure that all NFT artwork and metadata was ready prior to mint day.
