Captivate is a fast-paced tabletop card game of strategy, skill, and memory for 2-4 players. Flip over cards and capture them to score points, but watch out – your opponents have plans of their own!

Featuring iconic characters from pop culture, combine themes or multiple decks for exciting battles, and to increase the number of players to 5+

Captivate is currently in production featuring my artwork and game design, and was successfully funded by the Cardano community via Project Catalyst.

I worked at Art Attack International in Edmonton, Alberta, for a combined 7 years as Art Director and Designer from 2014 - 2021.

I collaborated with a wonderful team of artists and creatives to build Mini Golf Courses and Laser Tag Arenas that are featured all over the world.

I successfully managed and completed several large scale projects for high profile clients including: Ripley's Believe It or Not, Canadian Brewhouse, West Edmonton Mall, Mall of America, Scene 75, FatCats, and GlowGolf.

The CNC Ala Project is a permaculture and reforestation project in Madagascar. The project was successfully developed and funded by Climate Neutral Cardano in partnership with the Tetkiasa Ala NGO. Over 90,000 ADA has been donated to date.

I was primarily responsible for collaborating with our NFT artists and minting portal developers to launch the NFT claim and redemption, website updates, and creating the tokenomics of the CNC Ala token.

The Cardano Forest Project is a reforestation project powered by veritree (tentree), which successfully planted 1,000,000 mangrove trees in in Kenya, Indonesia, and Madagascar.

The project was launched in collaboration between Veritree, the Cardano Foundation, and Climate Neutral Cardano.

I was responsible for promoting the project, attending meetings, taking group notes, and advising regarding the Cardano blockchain.

- DIGITAL ARTWORK -

The primary medium I now work in is digital, mainly due to the great variety of artistic options available when working digitally.

To digitally paint and draw, I use an iPad Pro and a combination of Procreate, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I also use custom brushes, stock images, and textures to achieve my desired effects.

- LOGO DESIGN -

I've produced logo designs for a variety of businesses and personal projects. I have also re-created logos from raster files (.jpg/.png) into vector files when an original vector file wasn't available for a project.

With all my logo designs, you receive the original build files, and the logo files in both raster and vector formats. Typical logo design projects get 1-2 alternative logos for A/B testing, or to narrow down a final design.

You can be confident you will be able to use your logo designs at any size and for any medium you need.

LOGO DESIGN

- BOOK COVER DESIGN -

background-glow-green_edited_edited_edit

Here are a selection of book cover designs I've had the pleasure of creating. The style and level of cover detail varied by project and purpose.

A book cover that goes to print requires a spine and back cover design in CMYK with bleed and thickness to account for all pages in that book.

A cover that is being used as a promotion or mockup may only require the front cover design. Sometimes additional materials were needed for a book, like area maps, which I also produced.

For each project, I consulted with the book author to determine the fonts, creative elements, and style that would best express the feeling of the book through the cover.

- DRAWING -

Drawings I make by hand are primarily done with graphite pencil using both a technical pencil and pencils of varying hardness to achieve images with depth and contrast.

I have also made drawings using a varying combinations of conté crayon, ink, gesso, paint, and collage materials.

I typically draw on artist grade paper cut to the size of an order, and all finalized drawings area sealed with fixative to ensure lasting image quality.

DRAWING

- PAINTING -

When I paint by hand, my medium of choice is acrylic paint on masonite board. I find this helps me work quickly, and allows me to layer color while also being able to use sprayed or pooled water, rubbing, drawn elements, and varying levels of thickness in my painting.

I have also worked with oil paint and on canvas in the past, but the ease of cleanup and the fast drying time of acrylic lends itself better to my workflow.

PAINTING

- SCULPTURE -

background-glow-green_edited_edited_edit

My work in sculpture has been mainly by using clay and moldmaking techniques to create casts in plaster or quick-forming plastic, which are then finished and painted.

I've also created sculptures using wire, wood, plastic wrap, and tape.

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

Ever since I was a child, I've been making artwork. I was excited by the way pencils and colour could bring the ideas and characters from my mind into reality. The exciting and unique worlds that were created in books, television, and video games all inspired me to create my own artwork, with the hope that one day I'd be making something just as creative.

Growing up in Beaumont, Alberta, Canada, I pursued art as a career and attended the University of Alberta for 5 years. I learned as much as I could while I was there, taking a wide range of classes including: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Printmaking, Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design, and Computing Science. I graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Art and Design.

While searching for a job in the Art and Design Industry, I started Brian Lee Art to bring the ideas of others into reality, and to share my art with the world. In 2014, my dream of working in the Art and Design Industry came true, working as a Designer for Art Attack in Edmonton, Alberta, and eventually becoming the Art Director for 2 years.

In 2021, I left Art Attack to further pursue my own ventures within the cryptocurrency and charity space. While running my own stake pool in the Cardano ecosystem, I worked on the Cardano Forest project and the CNC Ala project, both which were successfully funded.

I also created my own tabletop card game called Captivate: Cardano Edition, which was successfully funded through Project Catalyst and is currently in production.

Now that my latest projects are coming to a close, I'm looking forward to further pursuing my career working for another excellent company.
